THE EXPERIENCE

As the capital of Sardinia, Cagliari is the bearer and representative of all the souls of the peoples who have landed in this land. The legacy left by Nuragic, Phoenician, Roman, Spanish and Savoy men can be traced in the white stone and palaces of Cagliari in remembrance of ancient times.

ITINERARY

1st Stop: Gathering and departure

We set off to discover Sardinia's most important city since Roman times, to explore its great architecture, its winding alleyways, and its beautiful coastline overlooking the sea. The gathering is 15 minutes prior to departure at the meeting point you have selected.

2nd Stop: Poetto

We enter the marvellous city of Cagliari where, welcomed by the tour guide, we immediately admire one of the largest city beaches in Europe: Poetto, which stretches for a good eight kilometres between the municipalities of Cagliari and Quartu. The entire coastline is the real pearl of this city, dominated by the promontory of the Sella del Diavolo (Devil's Saddle), a place so fascinating that, according to legend, even the forces of good and evil fought each other to conquer it.

3rd Stop: Molentargius

At the same time, we pass by the Molentargius natural park, a naturalistic oasis formed by fresh and salt water basins where a multitude of rare species find refuge, including the pink flamingos, the symbol of this natural jewel, which dominate the scene by displaying themselves on one leg with rhythmic movements, wing beats and characteristic verses.

4th Stop: Tower of San Pancrazio and Tower of the Elephant

We continue the bus tour towards the heart of the city. Here we begin the walking tour together with the guide, initially passing in front of the city's highest tower: the tower of San Pancrazio, a white limestone building that once defended the northern entrance to Cagliari. The tower of San Pancrazio constitutes, together with its twin tower of the Elephant, which is found along the promenade, the still intact part of the fortifications that the Pisans erected around Castello, the city's main historic quarter.

5th Stop: Bastion of Saint Remy

We continue our walk towards the majestic Bastion, an early 20th-century building in the centre of Cagliari's old town, a symbol of the island capital that marks the boundary between the two historic districts of Castello and Villanova.

Made of white and yellow limestone columns with Corinthian-style capitals, it consists of a large arch in which a staircase, characterised by two circular ramps, leads to the famous Terrazza Umberto I, from which there is an unparalleled panoramic view of the city.

6th Stop: Yenne Square

Strolling through the narrow streets of the charming historic quarter of Castello, which, with its palaces, churches and terraces, towers over a unique view of the city, you arrive at Cagliari's most important historic square: Piazza Yenne (Yenne Square). One of the city's most famous meeting places, this square in the historic quarter of Stampace hides a history spanning more than two centuries.

The guided tour ends here, where you can take advantage of some free time during which you can go shopping or simply stroll through the streets of this wonderful city.
